I'm sure I'll say this dozens of times before the year is out: I am SO glad Operation World includes answered prayers! Sometimes prayer can feel so inadequate, especially when the needs are more abstract and we don't have a person we can call or email to find out how things are going. It's great to get reminders that prayer is what works - that God has heard from others who have gone before us and responded by bringing glimpses of His kingdom to earth, as it is in heaven. So today, please read "Answers to Prayer" on pages 33-34, then come back for a time of praise!
I hope you saw in point 5, "The familiarity of Africans with the reality of spiritual warfare, and their willingness to faithfully put in many hours of intercession, are possibly the most significant factors in the remarkable church growth on this continent." I don't know about you, but I'm already learning from the precious African church! Isn't it great to be connected with the body of Christ on the other side of the world, to pray for them and learn from them? My heart is full as we worship God and thank Him today.
My prayer for today: Oh Lord, we thank You for the believers in Africa. Thank You for their faithfulness and their example in prayer and in fighting the enemy through intercession. Thank You for the awesome response of church growth. The exponential increase in numbers is precious because each one is a soul that has surrendered to You. Thank You for the Global Day of Prayer that is a tremendous gift from Africa to the world - help us take it seriously and see fruit. Thank You for calling so many Africans into missions, and for their amazing creativity in church planting. We pray for success of Vision 5015 in Nigeria, and other similar plans that exist for Your glory. We love You Lord, and we thank You that You have heard all these prayers that have gone before us. We join our voices with theirs to struggle in prayer for the rest of Africa to hear the message of the Gospel. Thank You for the mighty power of Jesus' name.
