Today's journey takes us from one of the poorest countries in the world to one of the most prosperous island states of the Caribbean. In contrast to Bangladesh with its persecution and undercover churches, Barbados enjoys complete freedom of religion and a Christian heritage. Yet even here, you will see that much prayer is needed for the legacy of slavery and current challenges to the Gospel.
Please read pages 137-138, then return here for prayer.
My prayer for today: Lord, we thank You for the Christian heritage of Barbados and the growing unity of the church there. We thank You that there is spiritual freedom and economic security. But Lord, we know that the enemy will not leave Barbados alone. We pray for complete healing of the scars of slavery - thank You for the acts of public repentance and we pray that true forgiveness will follow. Lord, we come against the current attacks of the enemy in the form of materialism, violence, crime, false cults and other religious systems, and the weakening of truth in some sectors of the church. We pray for spiritual renewal for the church in Barbados - for complete unity and a commitment to prayer and the Gospel. We lift up the young people, Lord, who need to see the Gospel lived out and to understand that what You offer is better than the lies of the world. Thank You, Lord, for Your work in Barbados. In Jesus' name, amen.
