Praying for Ecuador: A 365 Day Global Prayer Journey - May 11 (Day 132)

Today we are privileged to pray for a country where God has done what Operation World calls a "modern-day miracle", bringing the Gospel to the Quichua people.  Ecuador features prominently in modern missions history as the place where five missionaries were killed by tribesmen they were trying to develop relationships with. If you haven't seen the movie, "End of the Spear", and documentary "Beyond Gates of Splendor", I highly recommend both. They will encourage you, challenge you, and spur your missions vision to new heights.

There's much more to Ecuador, however. God has been at work here in many ways and the enemy is trying to stop that progress with cults, disunity, and anti-missionary propaganda. Please read about Ecuador on pages 311-313, then join this Ecuadoran believer in prayer for her country today:

Lord thank you for the modern day miracle that is happening in Ecuador among the Quichua people.
Thank you Lord for the ministry of Avant that has been serving there for more than 100 years.
Thank you Lord for the HCJB Radio ministry. May many more people hear the Gospel and come to know You in Ecuador and around the world.
Lord I ask that You would bring stability to the government in Ecuador and raise up responsible leaders that will fight for the good of the people.
Lord I ask that you would give the country continued freedom of religion and harmony among the different people.
Lord bring spiritual life to the Catholic Church. Bring revival among the Catholic people, that many hearts would be opened to the truth of Your Word and that many people in the Catholic Church will come to know You. Bring them out of religion and into a relationship with you Father.
Give the churches in Ecuador a vision of Your glory and the need for reaching the unreached of the world. Give the churches more and more zeal for evangelism.
Lord protect people from false teaching. Raise up godly teachers, leaders, pastors, Bible schools and seminaries. Continue to bless and use the Quichua Training Institute and other groups working there such as OMS, Foursquare, TEE programmes, In Service Training, OM, SIM, MAF, AoG, CB/CMML, AV, IT, CMA, CCCI, CECE, IFES, YFC, LAM, WV.
Lord bring effective ministry to children and young people. Bring Your hope to those in poverty and child labour. Let them know that they can cast their burdens on You and learn from You because Your burden is light.
Lord I pray for ministers, evangelists, missionaries and laity to bring your truth to the country with love. Lord raise up a mighty minority that know You and love You and that reach the country with Your love.
Lord thank you for the sacrifice of Jim Elliot Nate Saint Ed McCully Peter Fleming Roger Youderian Elizabeth Elliot Rachel Saint and all the rest who did not consider their lives as precious to themselves but only looked to finish their race and the ministry which You had given them to testify to Your grace. They have conquered by Your blood and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Raise up more people who love You more than life in Ecuador and around the world.
Lord I pray for success in continued Bible Translation and that many would come to know You through Your Word. Give success to Your servants and ministries involved in bringing Your Word to Ecuador such as Wycliffe Bible Translators and The Bible Society.
Lord bring salvation to the slum-dwellers of Quito and Guayaquil, the upper and middle classes, the university and school students, the Afro-Ecuadorian people, those living in the Galapagos Islands and the Loja province. Lord continue to bless Operation Esperanza, Good Shepard Radio and other radio ministries in the country, gospel driven, disciple-making television programs, and the impact of the Jesus Film. Let Your will be done in Ecaudor as it is in Heaven that You would be worshipped and glorified. Thank You Lord. In Jesus Name Amen.
